1900 Pretoria Day

The celebrations in Jamaica on Tuesday, June 12, 1900, were a one-off event. The observances were in honour of the victory of British forces in South Africa over the forces of the Boer republics, the Orange Free State and Transvaal, of which Pretoria was the capital. Guerilla fighting by the Boers went on into 1902. The Boer states were then incorporated into the Union of South Africa.
